Evidence-Based Psychological Care in Complex Contexts

Neurocatalyst Center offers individualized therapy for people navigating psychological distress within the context of work-related injury, courtroom involvement, administrative oversight, or other high-pressure systems. Care is grounded in evidence-based practice and delivered with clinical objectivity, thoughtful pacing, and attention to real-world impact.

Whether your concerns stem from trauma, stress responses, mood changes, or difficulty functioning under sustained pressure, therapy here is designed to help you stabilize, regain clarity, and improve everyday functioning.

How Therapy Works

Therapy at Neurocatalyst Center is structured, collaborative, and oriented toward measurable progress. Each session is an opportunity to:

  • Develop skills for emotional regulation and stress management

  • Process distressing experiences and trauma when appropriate

  • Increase insight and functional coping strategies

  • Track progress in ways that matter clinically and practically

Clinical care is tailored to your needs — whether you are navigating workers’ compensation processes, court-ordered treatment, or occupational stress.

Clinical objectivity is central: treatment focuses on your psychological experience and functional outcomes without taking sides or advocating for any party or outcome.

QME and Other Clinical Record Reviews

Neurocatalyst Center provides professional review of existing psychological and psychiatric records in select circumstances, including Qualified Medical Evaluator (QME) reports and other clinical documentation relevant to ongoing treatment or care planning.

Record reviews are conducted to support clinical understanding and treatment decision-making, particularly when clients are navigating workers’ compensation, court involvement, or other system-based processes.

These reviews may be used to:

  • Clarify diagnostic impressions or areas of agreement and divergence across records

  • Identify clinically relevant findings that may impact treatment planning

  • Support continuity of care when multiple providers or reports are involved

  • Help clients understand the clinical content of records they have received

Record review services are not advocacy, rebuttal opinions, or legal consultation. Neurocatalyst Center does not provide forensic testimony, legal opinions, or party-aligned analysis. Reviews are conducted with clinical objectivity, professional neutrality, and adherence to ethical standards.

The scope and appropriateness of any record review are determined on a case-by-case basis and discussed in advance to ensure role clarity.

Common Concerns Addressed in Therapy

Therapy at Neurocatalyst Center can help with, but is not limited to:

  • Trauma and post-traumatic stress reactions

  • Adjustment to work-related injury or stress

  • Anxiety, mood dysregulation, and stress responses

  • Difficulties with sleep, concentration, or daily functioning

  • Managing emotional responses during legal, occupational, or administrative review

This work is not about assigning blame — it is about enhancing psychological stability and functional capacity.

Therapeutic Approaches

Evidence-supported modalities may be used depending on clinical appropriateness and your goals:

  • EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing)

  • Trauma-focused cognitive and behavioral strategies

  • Somatic and nervous-system regulation techniques

  • Attachment and parts-informed approaches

These methods are selected to address both symptom patterns and underlying mechanisms relevant to your experience.

Documentation and Systems Awareness

Therapeutic documentation is prepared with care and precision. Reports and clinical notes are written to reflect objective findings, treatment progress, and functional impact, with the understanding that they may be reviewed by claims administrators, courts, employers, or other systems.

For clients receiving treatment through workers’ compensation, all services are provided in accordance with the applicable utilization review and authorization processes. Treatment recommendations, session frequency, and duration are subject to approval by the claims administrator or utilization review entity.

When requested and clinically appropriate, Dr. Place participates in peer-to-peer consultations or appeals processes to clarify treatment rationale, clinical necessity, and progress. These communications are conducted professionally and within the scope of the treating clinician’s role.

Insurance and Billing

Therapy services are offered via secure telehealth and in-person sessions, based on clinical appropriateness and client needs.

For workers’ compensation cases, services are provided pursuant to claim authorization and must follow the applicable approval process. Clients receiving treatment under workers’ compensation are not billed directly for authorized services.

For non–workers’ compensation cases, services may be covered by insurance or provided on a private-pay basis. Billing details, coverage, and any applicable fees are reviewed during the initial consultation to ensure clarity and alignment with the referral context.
